YouTube is always looking for new ways to keep people watching more videos. Why? Because they make more money and their ultimate goal is to have you stay longer and longer and longer on YouTube.com.

From time to time, YouTube adds new features to improve session watch time. Now, YouTube introduced one of these features called Autoplay. Some of you might like this feature, or you think that this feature is plain annoying. This frustration has been felt by many on YouTube including one of my subscribers. He says, “How in the world do you turn off the Autoplay feature on YouTube? It is very annoying.”

You know me; I love to help out my subscribers every chance I get, so if you have found the Autoplay feature to be annoying for yourself, then this is what you can do to change it:

  • The new YouTube feature about Autoplay will show at the end of the video you are going to see, and it will pop up to show you what is up next. If you start to type or move the mouse, it will actually stop. The Autoplay will also stop if you click on any place on the screen. But if you are sitting idle, and your mouse doesn’t move, Autoplay will continue to run. Basically, what you are able to do is just hit the Cancel button and it will cancel the Autoplay. The next thing it will do is bring up your suggested videos from there.
  • There is also a little toggle on the right hand-side where the related videos are at. You can toggle this into the Off position and you will never see Autoplay again.
