Nowadays anyone with Internet access can upload a video to YouTube. However, if you really want to make money off of your video content you might want to consider becoming a YouTube Partner.
The YouTube Partner Program is designed so that YouTube selects YouTuber’s to share revenue with them with all of those ads that are placed everywhere; like the pre-roll ads or the ads on the side. It doesn’t take much to monetize the videos on your YouTube channel, but now is the time to discuss some of the major policy changes that YouTube has made, and also discuss when it is actually going to be better to consider another partner program outside of YouTube‒ so let’s take a look.
Once you have become a YouTube Partner and monetized your channel, you will see a lot of options in your Channel Settings. This is the time to make sure your YouTube account is in good standing, that you have no copyright strikes, and that your account is at least 30 days old. When this is all done, you will need to make sure your account is verified which is done through SMS or voicemail on your cell phone. Once all of this information checks out and you have a video set to monetize, click the Enable button and now you are a YouTube Partner with the ability to monetize videos.
Be sure to completely read through the terms of service, and also showing that you are 18 years of age by going through the agreement to work with YouTube and AdSense. Once you agree to this, you also need to Opt-In for their content and click I Accept. Now you are ready to monetize your videos.
As you prepare yourself to monetize your videos, choose the ad formats and hit Monetize. Once you click Got It, it takes you back to the Video Manager for your uploads where it will show that your channel is now monetized by showing you a little green icon with dollar signs in it.
You can change the monetization by clicking the Edit button and looking at the Advanced Settings. You can choose Paid Product Placement, TrueView or Overlay Ads, or that you don’t want any Ads at all, then click Save. You now have the option to turn on your monetization or turn it off based off of the videos that you are producing.
Some of you are from different countries around the world and might not be able to apply for the YouTube Partner Program, or your channel is not is good standing which would make you ineligible for monetization. Also, if you are not 18 years of age, you must have a parent or guardian sign with you to actually get that money back from Google and YouTube. So, be sure to check out these things to make certain you are in good standing before you start.
