In the beginning phases of starting up a business, the budget for marketing is usually slim to nothing.  And most of you don’t have the necessary experience and know-how to really define the major factors of understanding your audience and marketing your product.  But there are ways of building a really strong target audience without having to empty your wallet or the experience that established brands have.

The human population is continually changing the way they work, live, and shop.  Marketers have to think like their consumers.  What do they want?  What will they achieve with your product or service?  What is their specific goal?

Content is what you will attraction your customers with.  Your story must be solid as well as full of information, with maybe a touch of emotion or humor that provides them a fundamental understanding that will motivate them into buying from you.  So, who are these people that you’re searching after and what can they do for you?  How do you invite them to seek you out?

  1. One of the first things you must do is to understand your customer and the product/service you are selling. What age group will it attract?  What is driving them to seek you out?  Finding answers to these questions is a good first step to profile your target audience.  This will allow you more understanding in the reasons why your customers want you.
  2. Other things that attract customers may be how easy it is to navigate your website, how high you rank is search engines, or recommendations given in testimonials from previous customers. Now is the perfect time to focus on the content that you are setting out there for people to see.  They want to know what your product/service will do for them.  Remember, people are skeptics and have to be shown whether or not your brand will deliver satisfying results to them.  Be a detective and study, study, study to find what exactly fits your audience.
  3. Take time to know your audience. Of course this will take some effort on your part to find that perfect connection.  But it is one of the most rewarding payoffs when you do.  Use your statistics and figures to your advantage when you’re pitching your product information to audiences.  They love to see testimonials of real people who have seen satisfying results.  This is the power of proof, and it works every time.
  4. Create content that is meaningful and easy for your audience to understand. Make certain that it has relevance for your target audience.  This increases satisfaction in your product/service and makes it easy to share with others.  Ask yourself if you think your target audience will pay you for your goods and services.
  5. Keep your brand, logo and image consistent. If your target audience recognizes you in a busy crowd, then that is a crucial step in having more viewers navigate back to your page.  This allows you a lot of freedom in the sense that you will receive great visibility from your brand’s image.  This is possibly the best and simplest way to optimize your brand without costing you a dime.  All that is needed here is an authentic look and a solid way to define your unique brand to the outside world.
  6. Create a list of where your customers will likely look for you. What do they search for?  What blogs are they reading or what websites do they visit?  Once you understand who you are targeting, it will be easier to market your message and connect with them.

If you are able to set a goal to search these things out, you will see surprising results with how much value it will deliver to your business.  Everything listed here is something that can be done without taking a loan out from the bank.  It does take time and effort initially, but the payoff is insurmountable to how much it will do for the success of your business.

Be clear about what you are offering.  Focus on who your brand will find, and build a strong relationship with your target audience by making them feel like they are part of your family.
