How to Watch Youtube Videos at 2x Speed – Double Speed

Have you ever wished that you could really speed up some of these longer videos that you want to watch on YouTube? Trust me… there are some really great videos out there, but there is a lot of people that are long-winded and create long videos.

I am a podcast junkie. I love audio books and podcasts that have the feature to speed it up to 2x or 3x the speed and it is all a hidden feature that you can find on YouTube. This will natively make it possible to watch YouTube videos at 2x speed, or even slow it down! But I bet you didn’t know that it even existed!

To change the video speed you will need to change the player. Now, when you watch any video there is a little player that comes up which is the default player. You can change this player to a new player.

First, type in youtube.com/html5 into your browser. This player works on different browsers and is a great player. Click on the blue button and request that player. Once it is there, you can see that it has your HMTL5 Player currently in use for this specific browser.

Go back and click on a video. Go ahead and pause, look at the settings icon to see the quality and speed. You can do it 2, 1.5, 1.25 and even slow it down to .5 or .25 if you want to slow it down. This option is great if you want to speed things up because of time and actually watch a lot more content.
