How to Verify Your YouTube Account

Google verifies YouTube accounts to avoid spam. This is how they verify ones identity to protect their community from being abused.

Knowing how to verify your YouTube channel is extremely important to do especially if you want to upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes or use services like YouTube Live, Hangouts On Air, customize thumbnails, and also the ability to appeal content ID disputes.

One of the first things you need to do is click into your Video Manager and look for the channel settings on the left-hand side to see if you are in good standing. This is also where you can see all the features that are available, but to enable them, you have to verify your YouTube channel.

YouTube requires a phone number so they can call you or send a text message containing a verification code from Google that is solely for your YouTube channel. And once you have entered and submitted the code, you will receive a message that tells you that your YouTube account is now verified.
