Hey, Derral here. So, you’re trying to figure out how to turn closed captioning on and see the subtitles for the video you are actually watching? Well, in this training I am going to show you all the options that you can do with your subtitles, change the colors, and all those cool things. You don’t want to miss it.

Alright, to turn closed captions and subtitles on /off from your YouTube videos it is really easy. All you need to do is mouse over to the CC button in your Video Manager and click on it. That turns on the CC or you can switch it off. Now with each video, basically YouTube will transcribe that video, but anything that they say will be transcribed to text. With really good videos, they will actually upload the transcription. That is what I do for all my videos so you can get an accurate transcription of what they are saying.

Also, they give you an ‘Options’ section that allows you to increase the font size, change the fonts (the fonts available are those on your computer), give it a background color, and you can move it around. When you’re finished with all that and it looks just the way you want it to you can go ahead and hit ‘Done’.

Now there is another option, click on ‘Options’ again, you’ll see ‘Account Playback Settings’. This gives you the ability to, across the board, always show captions. So, if you have a hard time hearing or you might speak a different language and have a hard time understanding, you need to have the captions show up. You can actually click this button and each time YouTube loads a video and it will always show captions. You can also do it where you show automatic captions by speech recognition. Now that you know all there is about captions, go give it a try!
