A lot of you have subscribed to a channel or two on YouTube, and many of you are subscribers to hundreds or even thousands of different channels. But, did you know that there is a hidden feature or setting with subscribing?
Since most of you have no idea that there is a setting in the subscribe section, sometimes this can bring some problems along with it. For instance, one of my subscribers told me he could never see my videos in the YouTube feed. Instead, he has to go straight to my channel to see if I have released a new video. And he also mentioned that he used to get YouTube emails to notify him about things but hasn’t seen anything for a long time. Now he is asking me if there is a way to make them show up in the feed, and also help him figure out how to get his emails again.
Well, there are settings on your YouTube channel that need to be activated… especially those little hidden features that most of you aren’t aware of. By showing you these, you will have more flexibility with those YouTube channels that you are subscribed to and will immediately begin to see the content that you want to see.
- First, you can either subscribe to a youtube channel through the channel page or click the subscribe button. Look for the Gear icon. This is where the hidden features are. In there, you will see Send Me Updates. This will do two things. One, it will send you an email, and two; it will give you a notification through G+. If you click on that, anytime the channel creator uploads content, you will be notified of it. This is great because you get to see their new content the moment they upload it.
- Second, you will see Show Only Uploads in Feed that will eliminate all of the clutter if you choose this one. It is one of the strategies for YouTube to actually add videos to the playlist that shows up in the feed. So if you only want to see uploads in the feed, you can go ahead and select this preference. By doing this, you can eliminate all of the other clutter and you are only seeing what the channel creator actually uploads.
After you choose your preference, go ahead and click Save. Go back to the channel and you will notice the changes that you just made. You will also notice that the Gear is by the Subscribe button. So naturally, you can easily go into any channel that you want to get more information on and set your preferences to each YouTube channel the way you want it to be, along with having it notify you so you are watching the content that you love.
