One way to build a solid community of loyal subscribers on YouTube is to engage with them. To start out, try something as simple as replying to comments left on your videos. Engaging on comments is a great strategy that leads to a dedicated audience as well as a loyal following. The reason behind all of this is that viewers want to feel as if your content was created just for them, making your relationship grow through interaction.

Now some of you may be thinking that there just isn’t enough time in the day to reply to comments especially on a daily basis. But now, YouTube has launched their new Comment Management System to make it easier to engage with viewers. This makes for a great opportunity to reply and manage all of your comments on your YouTube videos and channels.

There are several ways to reply to comments. YouTube actually set up a commenting system to make our job a little bit easier:

  • The first way is easy. Click on the gear and go to Video Manager. You will see all the different videos that you actually have on your channel. If you only want to make a comment on a specific video instead of clicking the video and watching it, scroll down to the comments and it opens for you to leave a comment or reply to comments. Click on the newest first to reply, hit thumbs up. You can check to see if it is public and will be published across the board on Google+.
  • This next way you open Video Manager where you will click on Community under its tab. It will open up a few things here like your comments. These are all the comments that are on all the different videos and also on the channel description. From here, you can reply. This is still a little buggy with YouTube, but it does speed up the process of communicating back with your subscribers and those that are leaving comments.
  • A couple of notes here‒ you can do thumbs up in here and also report spam. You can also make a setting to review all comments. This is great for businesses with brands that don’t necessarily want to have trolls. There is a tab for span if you want to go through it. You can see a common theme between all of them like people posting links and saying hey Sub4sub! Whatever it is, basically what you need to do is keep your comments clean, direct, and to the point to be engaging. Another thing to check for is the Comment Setting. This lets you approve users so they will never be sent to spam, and these users can do links and other things in your comments if they are trusted individuals. You can also see the banned users because of vulgar language‒ this is something that I don’t stand for or want my other subscribers to see. You can also create a blacklist of different words with the ability to censor words. And down at the bottom of your new videos you can hold for review or disable comments, or hold all comments on your channel.

Commenting with your fan base is a great way to become more active and be involved with your viewers. When you comment, you are building your very own community that will ultimately help your channel grow, and as your audience sees that you are more engaged, you will get more video views.

YouTube’s new Comment Management System allows you to see, respond, and moderate to all of your comments in one place making it really convenient. But to be honest, there are still a few glitches that YouTube is trying to work out. So if you are trying it out for the first time, you might find it a little frustrating especially if you try to call out someone and tag them.
