How To Create a Section on Your YouTube Channel

Everyone wants to have a successful YouTube channel, but understanding one important detail can make you or break you. Knowing and understanding what a YouTube section is will help give you more control over the content that is shown on your channel.

What is a section? Sections are used as a way to set up and organize your content into different sets of videos that can be feature in a specific section. For example, you may have Live Events on your channel and have placed it into its own section. This allows you to add to it events that are Live Now, Upcoming Live Events, or Completed Live Events.

It is merely a snapshot of the category you have made in that specific section within your channel. Sections can make it more engaging for viewers and also keep similar themes in their own sections by making them easier to find. YouTube gives you all this content that can be displayed on your YouTube channel and you can pick it from the different categories that are from here.

Sections are easy to set up. To create a section on your YouTube channel, the first thing you need to do is go all the way down to the bottom of your channel and click on Add Section. You can do Recent Uploads, Liked Videos, Posted Videos, and Live Now like I mentioned before. Right here is where you can display the playlist in a horizontal view or in a vertical one, whichever you prefer.

Another great feature here is under the Others button to choose‒ Recent Activities, Recent Posts, Channels, or Tag. Tag gives you a specific tag in your videos and if you want to display all of them, like mobile marketing for example, it will pull in all of the different videos that’s using the tag YouTube puts in it. Then all you have to do is reposition this layout where ever you want it to be by clicking the small arrow to the right of each section and click on the Save button. That’s it! A great little tip to help you add sections that make your YouTube channel more appealing and engaging for your viewers.

Some important tips to create a section on your YouTube channel:

• It’s helpful to keep your page like an online shopping cart, use Amazon as an example
• Identify common themes across your video catalog to get viewers to watch your videos back-to-back
• Use descriptive titles and thumbnails to grab the attention of your viewers
• Keep your channel looking fresh by adding new content in a visible place on your channel
• Don’t forget that less is more. Think about your viewers’ attention spans and find successful ways to target viewers into watching your videos
