On Monday, Facebook announced that it will be showing view counts on videos that are posted on Facebook very soon. As you may have guessed, this is an effort to beat out the video-sharing giant, YouTube, and other service providers.
This is one more attempt to incorporate every technique and tool to keep up with Facebook’s popularity when it comes to beating out its rivals along with the potential to get more attention from advertisers. Facebook hopes to see an increase in user’s engagement that will hopefully give them more support from the marketing world which would give them a greater global appearance.
Facebook had acquired video adtech company LiveRail that cost them over 400 million dollars in July, and says that 65% of its video views are from mobile devices which have developed into being the major user base of late. They are also using a campaign to entice viewers to watch additional videos in hopes of increasing viewer engagement on the site.
Another tactic that Facebook is incorporating is allowing a “Call to Action” to be used by video publishers at the end of each video, along with having access to more analytics, view counts, and time spent watching videos.
All in all, marketers believe that this will open up a huge potential to Facebook’s popularity, heighten their business, and build up its resilience.
