During a recent trip to Los Angeles, Derral and the team met up with some big YouTube names to collaborate at YouTube Spaces, and had a great time making videos for their channels.
The building is large and spacious with people constantly coming in and out of it. However, not just anyone can walk right in. In fact, you have to have a special invitation to use YouTube Spaces. And if you are not on the list, you might as well not even try!
Once inside, the view is mind boggling. There are all kinds of people working on their own media projects. We were lucky to meet some of them and hear about their stories of what they were filming and how they ended up there. Everybody was so helpful and nice, and they even have a little café that was offered to everyone… on the house.
We were assigned to a studio and received the cameras‒ a Sony C300 and a Mark 5D, and other video gear that we had requested. Then our guests showed up and everything began. Derral joined up with David Walsh and Gideon Shalwick, who are also YouTube certified in Audience Growth, to collaborate and make a video about YouTube; making this a perfect opportunity for everyone to join together and collaborate.
Derral and David began working first on their collaboration which was about ranking and re-ranking strategies on YouTube. David flew in from England just to be there to help Derral with this video because they both have been successful with their YouTube channels. This video was made to help people realize how to boost their channel with popularity and subscribers.
The second collaboration with Gideon was about Live Events on YouTube. Gideon has successfully held many live events using YouTube, which is why Derral had him fly over from Australia to team up and show people how to get it done right.
Even though it was dark by the time everything was finished, YouTube didn’t stop there. They were kind enough to let us use all of their equipment, eat whatever we wanted, and then throw us a big party with many guests in attendance. What a great opportunity it was just to be there and see another side of YouTube.
