How to Report a Copyright Complaint in YouTube – DMCA

There is nothing more frustrating than when you produce a great video and someone swipes it and uploads it to their YouTube channel without your permission.

Just recently, one of my loyal subscribers sent me an email telling me that people were copying his YouTube channel videos without his permission and he wanted to know how to report a copyright complaint in YouTube.

I reality, this kind of stuff happens all the time.  In fact, last year I had 42 people pretend to be me on Google+ and also on YouTube.  What?!  Who in their right mind would do that?

Now, if you believe your material was posted on YouTube without your authorization, this is what you need to do to take care of it because I have one of the fastest and easiest ways to report a copyright complaint in YouTube to inform them of copyright infringements.

I found one of my own videos that someone had taken all of the content, stripped out my intro and my outro, and then monetized the middle content of my video.  He had 2,000 views which could have been that same amount for me as well.  This is what I did to report him:

• Click on the flag in the upper-right hand corner
• Report the issue- this one is under infringes my rights– click Invades my Copyright
• Click on Submit where this takes you to a new page
• Click A Copyright Complaint- Copyright Infringement (Someone copied my creation)
• Copyright Infringement-Who is affected? Click I am
• Copy the URL into the Videos to be removed area
• Copy your URL that contains your original video
• Then click My video was uploaded by another user and fill out the information there and where it appears
• Finish filling out all the details with your information

YouTube is serious when it comes to copyrights as they track everything, and this is something that must be legitimate or they may decide to throw you out as well.  If you think that you can get rid of a competitor by making a false claim, think again.  Do everything in good faith and make sure that it is all accurate.  Type in your signature and submit your complaint.  You will receive an email once your complaint has been submitted and also be notified about the copyrighted material.
